Banks Peninsula cricket
A brilliant double century by Akaroa’s John Mansfield marked the final round of the Banks Peninsula limited-over cricket competition for the Lavericks Cup on Saturday. Masefield opened the batting against Allandale and after the regulation 45 overs he had amassed a huge score of 200 not out. Scores:— Akaroa 341/3 dec. (J. Masefield 200 not out. P. Le Lievre 85, D. Langrope 25 not out; I. Martin 2/ 36) beat Allandale 300 (B. Turner 102, N. Dew 77, I. Martin 33, J. Blatchford 25. R. Bell 30; T. Rhodes 2/66, M. Johns 2/64). Little River 162/4 (B. Masefield 35. P. Skelton 52. G. McLeod 36 not out: E. Marshall 3/41) beat United 161 (G. Marshall 45. E. Marshall 84; McLeod 3/16, M. Stanbury 4/31).
Kaituna 197 5 (W. Thompson 91. S. Atkinson 32. K. Neal 20; W. Haley 3/42) beat Diamond Harbour 190 (A. Blakely 61. P. McKenzie 33; R. Watson 2 15. B. Neal 2/30). Le Bons 160. 7 (G. de Latour 81. W.
