Five jockeys suspended
PA r Auckland The judicial committee of the Auckland Racing Club suspended five jockeys on Saturday after each had been charged with careless riding. They were David Miller, Peter Tims, Ali Robinson, Paul Little and Ken Reggett. Miller, on Adriatic' Prince in the Rarotongan Highweight, was found guilty of causing interference to Daystar, Grand Garcon, Golden Az and The Bittern after about 350 m and suspended up to and including March 12. Tims, the rider of Magoli in the Koni Handicap, was found by the committee to have caused the crowding, about 150 m after the start, which resulted in Principal falling. It was alleged Tims allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Precious Candy, which in turn crowded Principal and others. Tims was suspended up to and including March 17. The rider of The Twinkle, in the Air New Zealand Stakes, Robinson, was suspended up to and including March 13 after being found guilty of causing interference to Ringtrue and, in turn, to Kev’s Bov coming to the I home straight. f The Twinkle, when she had ‘ trouble making the turn out of
the straight, had earlier caused Bound to Honour to check. Little, an apprentice, was found to have caused the interference suffered by McGinty soon after the start of the Eclipse Stakes and he was suspended up to and including March 13. Little, it was found, allowed his mount, Vegas Lass, to shift in when not sufficiently clear of McGinty and My Nani, wmch both had to be checked. Reggett was suspended up to and including March 10 after being found guilty of causing interference about 200 m after the start of the Orient Handicap.
