Top amateur killed
NZPA-Reuter London John Thorne, one of Britain’s most accomplished amateur jockeys, died on Sunday from injuries received in a fall during a race on Saturday. Thorne, who was 55, came second in last year’s Grar.d National Steeplechase on Spartan Missile.
