Turner wins sidecar title
The New Zealand sidecar champion. Bruce Turner, overhauled a first round points deficit to win an invitation best pairs championship in Nelson last evening. The 32 year-old Christchurch rider teamed up with his brother,. Wayne, also of Christchurch, to win the event with a total of 47 points. Bruce Turner was partnered by his wife, Norma, while Laurie McMahon was the swinger for Wayne Turner. The Wanganui pair of Tony
Cave and Robert Vandenburg finished second, with 42 points, while the Invercargill '< representatives, Russell Cunningham and Brian Reed were two points further back in third place. The first round of the championship was held oyer 21 heats at the Ruapuna Park Speedway on Saturday. The overnight leaders from that round, Alister Mitchell and Howard Jones, of Christchurch, started the contest at Nelson with a three-point advantage over Turner. 1
