Games parlour shelved

Plans to build an electronic entertainment centre in Christchurch have been shelved by the Kerfidge Odeon Corporation, Ltd. The manager of the corporation’s coin machines division, Mr D. Coward, said from Auckland yesterday that building, the centre had been postponed. The postponement was caused by the expense of building . entertainment centres and theatres in other places, he said. It had “nothing to do” with Taito N.Z., Ltd’s, decision to go ahead with an electronic fun parlour in Gloucester Street.

The corporation had opened entertainment centres in Hawera and Greymouth. It planned to open more centres in Wellington, Hastings, Hamilton, and Auckland during the next fews months, Mr Coward said.

The corporation', would probably, go ahead with the Christchurch centre next year.
