Four centuries in lower grades

Four centuries, two of them in the president's grade, were scored in the Canterbury Cricket Association's lower-grade competitions on Saturday. ■

Three of the century-makers were unbeaten at the end of their innings. John Coffey led the scoring with 152 not'out for St Albans in the president's grade and Terry McKendry (Marist) made 116 in the same grade. McKendry and Brian McCrorie (72) scored 196 for the second wicket against Riccarton: Craig Gibb (East-Shirley), in his first game for the club, scored 103 not out against the school he had just left. Shirley 8.H.5.. in the third grade. In the fourth grade. Richie Thomas (Sydenham) was unbeaten on 105 against Burnside-West. Four bowlers took six wickets. They were W. Wilson (Christ's College, third grade). B. Mac Gibbon (Old Collegians, fourth grade). S. Griffiths (BurnsideWest. sixth grade) and Alan South. (East-Shirley. eighth grade). South had the best figures of six for 36.
