Spell for Simon Owen
PA Auckland Simon Owen is to take a sixmonth break from tournament golf next year in a bid to recover the form which made him one of New Zealand’s most distinguished golfers. Owen, aged 31, barely survived the 36-hole cut for the final two rounds of the $lOO,OOO Air New Zealand Shell Open at Titirangi
on Saturday...scoring.74. 73 to be equal fifty-fourth. “I don't intend playing any tournaments before June." Owen said. ’Seven years of non-stop golf has finally caught up with me. I need a break." Owen said that, unlike some of his fellow professionals, he did not thrive on a diet of tournament golf.
