Ian Chappell suspended
NZPA Sydney The Australian Broadcasting Tribunal will today discuss a week-end incident in which the former Australian test cricket captain, lan Chappell, swore on television. Mr Chappell swore during a cricket commentary on Channel Nine’s Wide World of Sport, and has been suspended indefinitely bv the station. 'Soon after the incident, Mr Chappell apologised on air. He said he was no.t aware the
microphones were on when he swore. The chairman of the tribunal, - Mr David Jones, said yesterday the tribunal would take up the ’’ matter with the station but he did not know if Mr Chappell * •would be interviewed. ‘He said similar incidents had * happened in the past “'from time y to time." Mr Jones did not want to * prejudge the issue by comment- ' ing on what action the tribunal ■, may take. ■
