Gammalite’s fine mile
The Melbourne visitor, Gammalite, gave Addington patrons a glimpse of his real ability, when in adverse conditions, he paced one mile in Imin 56.1 s in a special time trial. His time was the second fastest ever in New Zealand, being surpassed only by Lord Module’s Imin 54.9 s recorded in 1980. The time trial was carried
out in a southerly wind, with light rain and the temperature was low and in marked contrast to that when Armalight rated Imin 55.4 s for 2000 m last Friday. The track was not affected by the rain. Bruce Clarke rated Gammalite well, being ably assisted by John Noble, who drove the .galloping prompter, Sepoti.. Gammalite went over his
