Repeat win for Tussock

Tussock followed up a fine win last Friday with a clearcut victory over a much stronger field in the N.Z. Premier Stakes. After being four back on the rails he was

lucky to escape trouble when Wee Junior broke in the lead near the 1400 metres. Tussock cleared the rails at the 1100 metres and waited on the leaders until near the straight entrance. He then unwound a powerful run which carried him clear by two and a half lengths at the line. Farasan, in the open for the last 1200 metres, held on gamely for second, shading Viewfield Skipper, Karena and Travel King. Ginger Creek'was right up next, just ahead of Toshack, which was never in the clear.
