Swimming club far from secure

With an oil bill of $6500 from last season still outstanding the future of the Woolston Park swimming club is far from secure.

At its recent annual meeting the ciub managed to obtain enough support from people in the district to form a committee to run the club this season, but now faces a big fund-raising task to keep the pool open this season. Opening day is next Saturday and between 10 a.m. and midday the pool will be open free to the public. “It will be a chance for people to see what an excellent facility we have and hopefully they will come back and patronise us during the season,” said the president (Mrs P. Winter). “It was good that we got the support of residents at the annual meeting to enable us to keep the pool open, but we are not out of the woods yet. We have a lot of money to raise before the end of the season in February.” History was created at the club’s annual meeting. Mrs

Winter, previously the ciub’s secretary was elected its president, its first woman president.
