Glass price increase cut
PA Wellington New Zealand Window Glass. Ltd, which supplies the total New Zealand requirements of sheet window glass, has appealed to the Commerce Commission against a decision of the Secretary of Trade and Industry partially rejecting a price increase application. The grounds for the appeal
are that the Secretary has departed from an agreed 1975 pricing formula relating to the calculation of export profits and annual provisions for periodic overhaul of glass-making tanks. The Secretary approved an increase of 12.62 per cent in the maximum prices of the company’s products but the latter wanted 25.8 per cent.
