Morning illness irks Princess
pttPA London “Nobody told me about morning sickness,” said Princess of Wales in what was supposed to be a confidential aside to another mother-to-be, but which made headlines in British newspapers at the week-end. The Princess, who is expecting a baby in June, confided to Mrs Janet Lukie, who is expecting a baby in May: “Some days I feel terrible.” The two met during a visit by the Princess of Wales and Prince Charles to Chesterfield, in the Midlands. According to the newspapers, the conversation between the Princess, aged 20, and Mrs Lukie, aged 25, went as follows: _ Mrs Lukie, leaning forward from the crowd: How are you feeling?
Princess of W'ales: I am fed up with this morning sickness. Some days I feel terrible. Nobody told me about morning sickness. Mrs Lukie: It is much better after the first three months. Princess of Wales, cheering up: Nobody told me that, either. Now I can’t wait until the first three months are over. Spectators noted that the Princess looked flushed and tired earlier in the day. But in spite of fears that she may be feeling unwell, she carried on with her busy schedule with Prince Charles. At one stage he put his arm round his wife’s shoulders and was heard to ask: “Are you all right, darling?” She smiled back and replied, “I’m feeling much better now.”.
