Surprise chess move
NZPA-Reuter Merano. Italy Anatoly Karpov and Viktor Korchnoi drew the sixteenth game of their world chess championship match yesterday with Karpov still one win away from a successful defence of the title. The draw climaxed five minutes of high excitement after play resumed from the
adjournment Korchnoi, who appeared to be at.a disadvantage. unsealed a . fortyfirst move which took watching grandmasters completely by surprise. Each player moved only once more * before Karpov, playing white, signed his scoresheet, conceding that he could see no wav to win.
