Subsidy for uniforms
PA Marton The Social Credit leader (Mr Beetham) has made it clear that his policy to subsidise clothing items applies specifically to school uniforms. The cloth-subsidy plan, part of a general family aid package, was to help people who had trouble meeting the costs of new uniforms for schoolchildren, Mr Beetham said at Marton on Wednesday. When asked if it applied to any other, clothing items, he said, "Not at the moment, no.” The proposed scheme would be funded by a lowinterest government overdraft at the Reserve Bank, he said.
