$4M extra for hospital

PA Wellington An extra $4 million has been authorised by the Government to meet the final cost of a building at the Palmerston North Hospital. The Palmerston North Hospital Board has been told it can spend $4,022,328 to meet the end cost of a clincial services and wards block, said the Minister of Health (Mr Gair). The final portion of the building, six storeys and a basement block, was commissioned late in 1979. The cost is now $11,737,835. Finance has been by way of loan money. The building has been completed and the extra $4 million covers aspects including escalation, major variations in the contract and fees.
