Lawyers’ fees to rise
PA Wellington Lawyers’ conveyancing fees will rise later this month, according to the president of the Law Society, Mr J. T. Eichelbaum, Q.C. He said certain existing fixed charges not affected by land transfer values would increase in line with the movement in the consumers price index. Scale fees for transactions affected by land transfer values including mortgage advances and the sale and purchase of land would rise by amounts below the index movement. The average increase for transactions was about 8.3 per cent.
