Gloomy U.K. outlook
Unemployment in Britain, now nearly three million, is likely to remain high for years regardless of the Government's economic policies, according to a Scottish university report. The industrial growth needed to reauce unemployment significantly was beyond the reach of the economy for years to come, said an economic commentary produced by Strathclyde University. The report, based on studies of the Scottish economy, said industrial output had bottomed out, but there were few hopes of any significant upsurge.—London.
