A South Canterbury farmer, Mr Alan Talbot, of Cave, has been appointed chairman of the new Pesticides Board. . Mr Talbot was chairman of Strathallan County, chairman of the Counties' Association, and deputy chairman of the National Roads Board, before his unexpected defeat
in the Strathallan riding election last year.
The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Maclntyre) said Mr Talbot would be responsible for leading the board in its promotion of effective and safe use of pesticides.
