Police behaviour

Sir.—l have two questions concerning police behaviour at the first test. First, I am told the police are neutral. Yet a number of gleeful police clambered up into a stand to watch the final minutes of the game. Did an equal number join the protesters at this time? Second, I note a protester was forced to “down-trou" in order that his groin protector be removed. What law was he breaking? I cannot see that wearing a groin protector is indecent. Perhaps Assistant Commissioner Twentyman could enlighten me and other puzzled protesters.—Yours, etc..

JAN WRIGHT. August 17, 1981.
