Revenge for Auckland
PA Hamilton The Auckland rugby team gained some revenge for the loss of the Ranfurly Shield last year when it convincingly beat the present shield holder, 16-7, at Hamilton’s Rugby Park yesterday. Waikato took the shield off Auckland last September, but in yesterday’s traditional
Queen’s Birthday match in which the shield' was not at stake, the home team had no answer for Auckland’s tight forward power. Scorers.— Auckland: P. Corlett and T. Burcher tries. R. Dunn a conversion and two penalties: Waikato: B. Morrissey a try, J. Boe a dropped goal.
