Bumps go north
Freestyle ski-ing’s “Boogie in the bumps” series may go national this winter.
Geoff Hunt, the president of the national freestyle association; plans an eightevent series in 1981 with two of them in the North Island.
The series will probably extend from mid-July through to the end of September involving virtually every week-end. Three events will be held at Mount Hutt, and probably another
three at Coronet Peak
Racing down the mogul courses proved popular in the events at Mount Hutt and Coronet last season and Hunt has already attracted two sponsors. Spalding and Albert’s Night Club (Queenstown). A national sponsor would, of course, be ideal. There will be a major freestyle event at Coronet over the Queenstown Winter Festival “fortnight” — July 25 to August 9.
