Party meeting
A much-delayed session of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee, at which Chairman Hua Guofeng, Mao Tse-tung’s protege and hand-picked successor, is expected to step down will be held in mid-June, Chinese officials have confirmed. They gave no exact dates for the landmark party gathering, which was originally expected late last year.— Peking.
