The Zeya hydro-electric power station in the far east of the Soviet Union. The dam, 115 metres high, reached its full capacity of 1,300,000kw two years ago. It is built across the Zeya River, a tributary of the Amur River. A second power station is to be built on the Bureya, another tributary of the Amur, and the two stations will eventually work in tandem.
