Walker second in mile
NZPA-Reuter Los Angeles Steve Scott held off New Zealand’s John Walker yesterday to win the men’s mile in 3 minutes 52.50 seconds, highlighting the University of California, Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.O Invitation track meeting. Scott, co-holder of the American record, topped an impressive field which also included the indoor mile re-
cord-holder, Eamonn Coghlan, of Ireland, and Sydney Maree, of South Africa. j The second-placed Walker, the former world recordholder, was timed in 3:53.98. Coghlan finished third in 3:54.94, while Maree wag fourth in 3:55.32. Although no world records were set, the meeting featured some of the fastest times in the world this year.
