Personality award to Stormont
PA Auckland Michael Stormont- was elected as the “Trotting Celebrity of the Year” on Sunday evening. He was presented with the award at a function held by the New Zealand Trotting Hall of Fame, attended by about 250 people. Stormont is the trainerdriver of the champion pacer, Delightful Lady which, this season, has broken all stake-earning records.
Her respective totals of $177,000 for the season ana $330,000 (total) are the highest for a racehorse wmeh has raced solely in New Zealand.
The award was presented by Mr Alistair Cox, an Auckland harness businessman, who also donated a set of harness to last year’s winner, Cecil Levine. This was accepted on Devine’s behalf by another Christchurch trainer, Jack Smolensk!.
