Special Correspondent Cambridge The Wingatiii-trained galloper, Owhata Son, and his trainer John Dowling, after being based .briefly at Cambridge awaiting transport left for Melbourne on Saturday. Owhata Son (Bally Royal — Lady Deborah), which
has won four races on the flat, will be based at Epsom. His trainer feels there is ; good scope for him in jump- ■ ing races there. “If all goes well we will stay for about three months. If they do not we will be back fairly quickly,” he said. The good handicapper, Optica (Wandering Eyes — Black Fairy), has been sold to IVTelbourne and is due to travel there immediately. Optica has been a good winner from the Cambridge stable of Brett Hughes. His best wins have included the Dominion Handicap and the Summer Cup at Ellerslie, the Summer Handicap at Trentham and, a few months ago, the President’s Handicap at Awapuni. He ran third in the 1979 Auckland Cup. According to Brett Hughes, Optica is likely to race on the Melbourne circuit then go to stud in Australia, s.
