matches ■ Victor Pecci, of Paraguay, fought off a match-point to beat Robbie Venter, of South Africa, 6-7, 6- 7-6; Eddie Dibbs, of Miami, the tenth seed, defeated Richard Ycaza, of Ecuador, 7- 6-3, and Angel Gimenez, of Spain, ousted Bill Scanlon, of Dallas, 6-3, 6-2.
