Support for C.A.T.
More than 40 organisations have joined the Christchurch-based Coalition Against the Tour (C.A.T.), which is pledged to stop the proposed Springbok tour. A steady flow of gifts had come in since the coalition was formed last week, and the organisers had been surprised by the number and range of groups committed to stop-
ping the tour, said a spokesman yesterday. C.A.T. has organised a South Island “stop the tour conference” at the Ham campus of the University of Canterbury at the week-end. The aim of the conference was to plan and co-ordinate group action against the tour, including a big “mobilisation” on May 1, the spokesman said.
