Ambassador named
PA Wellington For the first time New Zealand has diplomatic relations with'Venezuela.
The Venezuelan Ambassador, Dr Ignacio Arcaya, presented his credentials to the Governor-General (Sir David Beattie) in Auckland this week, bringing to 62 the number of ambassadors, high commissioners, and charge d’affaires accredited to Wellington. Dr Arcaya will be resident in Canberra. A new Portuguese Ambassador, Mr Inacio Rebello de Andrade, also presented his credentials. In December, Mr C. J. M. Ross, the New Zealand Ambassador to Peru, presented his credentials in Caracas.
