Rain holds up bowls final
Lex Kimber (Linwood) was 3-1 up on Natalie Cooke (Woolston W.M.C.) when rain halted the final at Shirley yesterday of the Christchurch women’s bowls champion-of-champions pairs tournament.
The game will resume at the fourth end on the same green at 10 a.m. today,
weather permitting. Mrs Kimber, who won the event two years ago, ; has Peg Woodfield leading . for her and Mrs Cooke’s partner is Doreen Le Breton. ■ In the semi-finals;' Mrs Kimber had an easy, 28-8, win against Hilda Left (United) and Mrs Cooke beat Mabel Brown (Cashmere).
24-17, after the scores had been level at 15-15 with seven ends to play. Results 'of the quarterfinals were: Mrs Left 19, M. Broad (Morrison Avenue) 14; Mrs Kimber 21, N. Hamilton (Barrington) 14; Mrs Cooke 28, H. Howse (St Albans) 8; Mrs Brown 25, P. Sheard (Fendalton) 22.
