New $15,000 race for Trentham

Replacing the President’s Handicap- on the first day, will be, the U.D.C. Finance Handicap,- to be run for a stake of $15,000 over 2200m.’ / ■v. •, ■ ? i.
For the winner of four or more races, the LJ.D.C. Handicap replaces a\ race that last year carried a stake of $lO,OOO. ;. This event will be a good lead-up for runners aiming at the $15,000 Chalmers Stakes, a 3200 m event on
the final day at Trentham., -The Trentham autumn programme 1 is* much the same. The North Island Challenge' Stakes,- ; a w.f.a. $lO,OOOl ever over 1400 m, and the ,SIO,OOP Thompson Handicap j wer < 1600 m are the other first day features, while on the last day, the two-year-old Wakefield Challenge Stakes ($15,000), the St Leger (§25,000). and the Penfolds ", Chardon Mile ($40,000) are the big races., Nominations for all races close on February 19. Racing on the two Saturdays will begin at 12.05'p.m. and nine races will bi carded. The middle day, Wednesday, March 11, will begin at 1.05 p.m. with eight races on the programme. One major change has been made for the public. Children will now be admitted to the lawn. Previously, those under 12 were not permitted. However, a charge of $2 per child will be made and they must be under supervision. ». The leger will be,in use and oh the days ’ this is closed, a charge on those 16 years and over will be made.
