PA Wellington Members tabled five notices of motion and Ministers answered 20 questions when Parliament sat at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. The Water and Soil Conservation Amendment Bi ll , a private member’s bill, was introduced by the Labour member for Lyttelton (Mrs Ann Hercus). The Chatham Islands County Council Empowering Bill was put through its committee stagesThe Transport Amendment Bill, the Criminal Justice Amendment BiU, and the Penal Institutions Amendment BiU were reported back from the Statutes Revision Committee. Urgency w a s taken to debate the first 12 bills on the Order Paper when the Government won a division by 44 votes to 33. The Maori Purposes BiU was given a second reading. The Apiaries Amendment BiU and the Local Legislation BiU were put through their committee stages. The committee stages of the National Parks Board Bill was interrupted by the dinner adjournment at 5.30 p.m.
