Harbour cruises by tug to resume
After hundreds of hours of work by volunteers, the tug Lyttelton has completed her annual survey and on Sunday afternoon will make her first public harbour cruise of the season. Newly painted and in first-class mechanical condition, the 73-year-old steam tug, run by the Tug Lyttelton Preservation Society, will first make a charter cruise tomorrow. Sunday’s two-hour cruise round the harbour and out to the whistling buoy between Godley Head and Adderley Head will cost $4 for adults and $1 for children.
’ Cruises will be offered ; each week-end. On Boxing Day, the tug will sail to ! Akaroa (without passengers) • where she will offer public cruises three times a day i round that harbour until January 2 when she will i return to Lyttelton. Crew accommodation and , coal and water supplies have ■ been arranged ,at Akaroa through the generosity of i the Akaroa Borough and : Community Councils, As well as providing can- • teen services aboard, society ■members plan soon to start a souvenir shop.
