Surf club equipment vandalised
NZPA Auckland Vandals have damaged about $6OOO worth of vital hfe-saving equipment In an act of “wanton and senseless destruction” at the Bethells Beach Surf Life-saving Club. Angry life-savers believe that vanda ! s broke in on Tuesday night and went on a ramp’ge through the building, slashing the inflatable rescue boat, possibly beyond repair, and chopping the kee l of a rescue canoe. They hacked into a 8250 rescue board, recently given to the club, smashed the television set, and stole equipment, including a tool
The president of the club, Mr B. Brogan, said it was left with just a canoe for • rescue craft, and would have to try to borrow, equipment to continue manning jhe beach efficiently.
