No problems with duty
The Customs Department! has had little reaction from the public since revised duty tarrifs were introduced on October 1. The chief Customs officer at Christchurch Airport, Mr P. A. Anderton said that' travellers apparently knew of the new duty tariffs, and his officers- h"i ' had few problems.

Mr; Thomson said that-the department had received several letters praising the method of processing arriving passengers at the airport. A new, faster duty collection system had been introduced recently.
