Ambulance hits bridge — two hurt
An ambulance driver and nurse were injured after the ambulance in which they were travelling hit a bridge at Kamaka in the Grey Walley on Monday evening. Neville Pledger, aged 45, received multiple lacerations •and was in a satisfactory i condition in the Grey Hospital yesterday. Mrs Cheryl O’Leary, aged 23, was ir stable condition with a broken thigh. A group of soldiers on exercise in the area rescued Mr .Pledger and Mrs O’Leary from the ’ ambulance. They had been ‘ returning to Greymouth after transporting a patient to Christchurch.
