Hotel noise
Sir, — Many complaints have been made over the years to the management of the Aranui Hotel, concerning excessive noise from bands and the irresponsible behaviour of customers after closing time. The City Council finally served notice on Ballins Industries to lower the sound to an acceptable level by the end of last July. Three months have passed. The thumping, banging and yelling by the vocalists continues. When a complaint is justified, why should the cause be allowed to continue? A 17-year-old girl asked why she patronised the Aranui Hotel said it was because the bands there made the loudest noise. We hope the new council have more consideration for its residents, — Yours, etc., L. W. HOBBY. October 20, 1980.
