Freight strike ends
Christchurch freight-for-warding workers returned to work yesterday after striking on Monday in protest about employers refusing to meet union officials for informal award talks. The decision to return to work was made at a meeting yesterday morning. The employers had refused to attend the informal talks in
Auckland while workers at two Auckland depots were on strike, but the Storemen and Packers’ Union said that the strikes were about issues not related to conciliation talks. '
Conciliation talks were adjourned sine ’ die from Christchurch on September 10.
