Skier flown to hospital
A young Australian woman who was injured in a skiing accident at Mt Hutt on Saturday morning has been flown to Christchurch Hospital. Kim Sullivan, who had been on an extensive New Zealand holiday, was last evening described as being in a “comfortable” condition by Princess Margaret Hospital.
Miss Sullivan was taken in a Hughes 500 helicopter from the mountain to Hagley Park and by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital. She was later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital. Two men are in Christchurch Hospital after an accident between a car and a van at the corner of Council Road and McGregors Road in the early hours of Saturday morning. Mark James O’Sullivan, aged 26, is in a serious condition with chest and leg injuries. Vaiula Lemi, aged 29, suffered head injuries and lacerations. The Finnish rally driver, Pentti Airikkala, who was injured in a 160km/h crash near Windwhistle on Tuesday, is reported to be in a comfortable condition in Christchurch Hospital.
