. Sir,. — In reply to , Jim Timings’ letter (September 1) if no money were printed there /would be nothing to lend or borrow. Whether it is a bank loan,, commercial finance, or credit cards, somebody has to front up with cash somewhere along the line. If more money is printed, then there is now more money to lend (spend). So the money available in the private sector is in direct proportion to the amount printed and made available I through banks, government subsidies, etc. “Plastic” money has cash backing, ! the credit card companies pay the bills which the card holder Is. delaying to pay. — Yours, etc., 7 PETER JOHNSON.
