Big attendance at Industries Fair

Nearly 15,000 people, the highest one-day total for more than five years, attended the New Zealand Industries Fair at Canterbury Court on Saturday, according to the director of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr I. D. Howell). “This is about the maximum we can handle in one day without delays and other inconveniences to both I the public and exhibitors,” Mr Howell said.

“In the early 1970 s we had problems with one-day crowds of up to 20,000. Now, however, we encourage a more balanced day-to-day attendance by offering spe-

cial concessions and attractions on selected days.” On Mondays, for instance, elderly people are admitted at children’s prices. : Attendances .by Saturday evening had exceeded 65,000, an increase on that time last year, even though this year’s fair opened two days later.
