Children at risk in sandhills

Policemen and Christchurch City Council staff will visit the South Brighton spit this morning to collapse sand tunnels and holes made there by children.

A Redcliffs woman told the police at the week-end that she had seen children “disappear” among the sandhills on the shore.

Senin r-Sergeant J. Coomber said it seemed that children were digging “out of their depth.” He repeated earlier Warnings about the gers of such activities, and urged parents who knew their children were playing in the area to be alert to the risks.
