Viren set to quit
NZPA-Reuter Helsinki The Finnish athlete, Lasse Viren, one of the great dis* tance runners of all time, said yesterday that he would retire from competitive athletics this month. Viren, who amassed four Olympic gold medals in the 5000 m and 10,000 m at Munich in 1972, and at Montreal four years later, said that his last race would be m a local competition on SeptembeThe Finn competed in the Moscow Olympics last month, but finished out of the medals 'in the 10,000 m and the marathon.
