Betta Girl relegated
PA Invercargill Betta Giri, first past the post in the Knapdale Stakes No. 1 at the Eastern Southland meeting on Saturday, was later relegated to third for interference over the closing stages. Betta Girl (D. ■ J. Shaw) shifted ground inwards when being ridden with the whip and came in contact with King Cole (S. J. Dalton), which finished third. After hearing evidence, viewing the film and hearing submissions from the connections of both horses, the committee found that Betta Girl had affected the chances of King Cole. She was relegated to third and Barrow Boy and King Cole were promoted to first and second respectively. Shaw was fined $6O for careless riding.
