Bribing charges
NZPA Singapore A Singapore businessman has been charged in court with bribing two jockeys — an Australian and a Sing-j aporean — to rig horse ; races in Malaysia. I Kiratrai Odhermal - Khemjlani, aged 43, pleaded not [guilty to the charges which alleged that’ he gave as bribes more than $7200 to Australian jockey, Ronald Richard Hutchinson, and Masruhen Bin Mastjury. Mr Khemlani was charged with paying Mr Hutchinson
$3300 on May 5 to throw away a race in Kuala Lumpur and bribing Masruhen with $3600 to “fix” two other races in the North Malaysian town of Ipoh. The two jockeys were expected to appear as Crown witnesses during the trial, according, to police sources. • The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, which is probing racing irregularities in Malaysia, would not say what action, if any, was being contemplated against the jockeys.
