Development at Whitecliffs

Sir, — In “The Press” of October 16, 1979, it was reported that the Malvern County Council decided to begin a planning study on urban development at Whitecliffs and that it' would be completed by Christmas. I have contacted the council twice since then and was advised to refer the matter again in about three months, which was done with negative results. I am paying rates on a 41-perch section and unless a residence can be erected it

is of no use to me or anyone else, so I must continue paying rates for nothing. An application for planning consent can be lodged to erect a dwelling, and this has been done by an interested party and published in “The Press” on August 7, 1979, and April 17, 1980, but to date approval has not been granted. It would be appreciated if the council would advise what progress has been made and when approximately the development study will be completed. — Yours, etc., R. H. OPIF August 15. 1980. [Mr B. W. Perrin, County Clerk, Malvern County Council replies: “The planning study referred to was completed earlier this year and, as a result, the council proposes changing the District Scheme to remove Whitecliffs from the Rural B zone and establish a special Urban W zone to cover the village. The new Ordinances for the proposed Residential W zone have been drafted and are now being considered by the council. When they are finalised they will be publicly notified and open for objection.”]
