Kaiapoi rates
Sir,—-The rate revolt expressed itself strongly in Kaiapoi some time ago when more than 1000 citizens petitioned their council members to resign. Protests alone gain little. In the new housing areas such as the Golden Groves are hundreds of new homes, neatly cared for by home owners conscious of their surroundings. Some of the young occupants with
drive, initiative and ability, might care enough about their borough to stand for the council at the forthcoming election? Maybe a little persuasion in the right direction could provide the right candidates, and ultimately the right councillors to run the next council more effectively. — Yours, etc., C. W. D. HODGSON.
