Frightening horses
Sir, — With reference to the report on the horse which / ‘.died from injuries after being “spooked” by a car full of. people, I am concerned about further cases of this nature happening, perhaps injuring a person the next time. Being a horse owner myself, I am Very aware of and annoyed about the attitude taken by a number of. car drivers, who seem to take great delight in scaring a horse, by yelling at it, tooting their horns, and seeing how close they can actually drive to,the horse. These inconsiderate people do not seem to realise that a horse can be so easily frightened by a sudden loud noise and place itself and its rider in a dangerous situation. I therefore urge cardrivers to show a bit more courtesy. when coming across horses and riders and possibly avoiding- injuries and distress to both parties. —Yours, etc., P. DENSEM. August 27, 1980.
