Bicycle owners sought
The New Brighton police .have begun the difficult task of tracing the rightful owners of a garage-full of stolen bicycles and bicycle parts. Most of the bicycles had been repainted or stripped and rebuilt, making identification difficult, said a police spokesman. He said the bicycles had apparently been stolen by a “ring” of two boys and a girl, all aged 12. The thefts had occurred over a wide area, extending from Papanui to New Brighton. The police found another cache of bicycles at the Woolston home of a boy, aged 13, who had apparently worked with two accomplices. The recovered bicycles will be available for inspection at the New Brighton police station on the morning of Sunday, September 7.
